So excited to share with you that I’ve embarked with my marvellous discovery Naomi Barton on a project to record my Of Gold & Blood series in audio over the next while… aiming to do a book a quarter (or thereabouts) starting with Poisoned Legacy, which is in production now.
It’s been a dream of mine really ever since I began writing, but it’s always seemed too difficult to achieve before now because of the very significant costs involved.
Part of the reason it is so expensive for writers down here at the bottom of the world in New Zealand is that much of the audio book production is based in the United States, and the prices when we Kiwis are paying in US dollars just sky rocket. (And that’s only getting more depressing by the day!) And local companies I’ve tried before seemed to want to match the US prices – so there wasn’t much in the way of options…
Romance Writer’s Conference Opportunity
Thankfully now, as a result of adventuring off to the Romance Writer’s Conference in Wellington in August, I’ve found a totally professional “voice” who is happy to work with local authors at more reasonable fees.
Still lots of money – because Naomi is a complete professional who does the whole package from recording to editing to production of a file I can simply upload to the audio book sites. So I’ll be belt tightening in other areas to fund it this latest project.
But I am thrilled to say I have signed a contract with Naomi for the first four books and she is well underway with Poisoned Legacy, which should be available to load into your Christmas stockings
Look for more progress reports soon!
And one of the nice surprises is as I listen to each chapter and make notes of tiny changes, I find I am enjoying the story and feeling quite proud of what I achieved with this first effort… And I’m believing the series only got better as it went along!!!
There’ll be more progress reports as we venture along, but to those friends who said they really only listen to Audio rather than read books these days I can finally say: Audio’s On The Way!
